Happy New Year to you all. We at ENZA hope you had a fantastic holiday period with friends and family. Here in South Africa the weather is heating up, and so are we at ENZA. Things are moving forward with EDP and the women are now moving into two different groups according to their sewing skills. One advanced group, which is moving swiftly to more advanced skills and basic sewing group which encourages and strengthens the women to be more confident and precise with their basic sewing skills. We are very proud of them all.

Abigail is one of the ladies who is part of the ENZA Entrepreneurial development program at the ENZA skills centre in Mbekweni. Sadly her home burnt down this week and she and her family lost all their possessions. If you have any clothing, bedding, furniture or kitchen items which you would like to donate please let us know. Abigail is an experienced seamstress and had her own sewing machine. She is one of a number of ladies on the program whom we had selected to assist in setting up her own sewing business from home. If anyone knows of anyone who would like to donate a sewing machine to help Abigail get on her feet financially please contact us. Email us

Our latest and most challenging program so far is the hat we have just started. The prime focus of that program being job creation for the ENZA women. This is a very exciting venture that we have high hopes for. At present, the ENZA ladies are busy learning how to use sewing machines that were donated to ENZA from the USA, as well as learning how to run their own small business.
Along side the training program there are also some income opportunities for the ladies, one being a contract we managed to get from Amarula, the South African liqueur company (www.amarula.com). The job is to do a keyring and a bracelet from beads and the ENZA women get 2 rand for each piece they make. The Items will be hung on the bottles in an international marketing campaign, that the company is launching next year at duty free stores around the world.
