Skills for Life

The Life Skills course got the ladies from Mbewenki and New Rest Community exploring their personal goals, decision making skills and their employability status and what they can do to make themselves active members of their communities or in a workplace. The hopes expressed by few of the ladies were to contribute to the betterment of their communities by simple use of their existing skills. Some women had a desire to start their own businesses, some wanted to work on a volunteer basis in community building activities while others had a keen eagerness to get themselves back into formal paid work. By identifying the ladies strengths, weaknesses and creating an updated resume, most women were able to come out of the course with a clear vision of the hard work that is involved in fulfilling one’s personal ventures and the opportunities that could be available to them if they take the first step of putting themselves out there.
